Andrea Lythgoe

Andrea Lythgoe first discovered a love for birth when she couldn’t stop reading books about pregnancy and birth even after her first daughter was born. It has been nearly 14 years, and she’s still reading and learning about birth.

She graduated from the University of Utah in 1996 with a degree in Health Education, with a focus on working in the community. Her early work experience in the Health Education field was in research and smoking cessation. She soon learned she much preferred educating individuals to working with populations.

Andrea has been teaching classes in natural childbirth since 1997, and started attending births as a doula just two years later. She is certified with ICEA and DONA International, and serves on the board of the Utah Doula Association. Recently, Andrea has been learning about photography and has had the opportunity to take pictures at a few births.

When she’s not involved in birth things, Andrea loves to read, take pictures, play with her kids, and eat fresh veggies from her garden.

Andrea has been married to Darrin Lythgoe since 1992 and they are the parents of three girls. A California native, she has never quite gotten used to living in a landlocked state.
