Lainna Wheatley-CampbellLainna Wheatley has been "midwifing midwives" since the early 1980s. She has studied with some of the great mothers of midwifery such as Ina May Gaskin, Susan Ingram-Ards, Anne Frye, Valerie El Halta, Carla Hartley, Barbara Harper, Penny Simpkin and Noreen Walker. Lainna recently completed her Master’s of Science in Midwifery from the Midwives College of Utah. Lainna’s Master’s thesis, a Second Attendant Orientation program, is currently being incorporated in many education models throughout Canada and the United States. Lainna and her husband Peter have been married for 27 years and have five wonderful children, (one of which, Jezelle, is also a midwife), all of which she has home schooled. She loves to sing and has just finished her first CD, which includes an original song entitled "Love of a Child", about welcoming these precious spirit children into our homes and lives. One of Lainna’s greatest pleasures is holding and loving her two new grandchildren Emma Marie and Merik. Lainna’s favorite aspect of being a midwife is, "supporting and empowering women and their families to be informed and make choices that reflect what they truly desire, want, and need." As an instructor for the Midwives College of Utah, her advice to students is to set goals, review them, get a coach on board with your plans and follow through. In her quiet time, Lainna can be found walking in nature, painting, and cooking. 1174 E 2700 S STE 2 SLC, UT 84106-2671 1-866-680-2756 1-801-649-5230 Fax: 1-866-207-2024 office@midwifery.edu |
