Heather Whitley

Heather had her first child with a Certified Nurse Midwife in 1999. This experience inspired her to become an advocate for natural childbirth and midwifery care. Heather went on to birth three more children at home with Certified Professional Midwives, further inspiring her to recklessly abandon her corporate career and begin studying out-of-hospital midwifery. Heather owns and operates Midwifery Mercantile, a retail web store for midwives and homebirth families. Her business ships birth equipment and supplies all over the United States. Midwifery Mercantile has supported schools, state midwifery organizations and birth centers in the developing world with product donations. Heather has been a consultant to the Midwives College of Utah Board of Directors since 2005. She is nearing the end of her academic midwifery studies and is working toward completion of her clinical training. Heather lives in rural Vermont with her husband and their four young children and their Siberian sled dog team.
