Masaki Sugihara

Masaki graduated from Rakuno Daigaku in Hokkaido, Japan with a BS in Agriculture, but decided a few years later that he would rather be a teacher. He went back to college and obtained his teaching certificate from Bukkyo Daigaku in Kyoto, and taught English in Hiroshima Prefecture for 12 years. During this time, he met and married Kelli and together they have three children. He is a twin who was born at home with a midwife, so he had no objections to having his own children at home when that time came.

Kelli and the children moved to Washington in 1997, and he followed in 1998. He has taught Japanese and science at various schools and is currently teaching at Franklin High School in Seattle.

Masaki likes to fish, crab, clam and play golf. He also makes delicious teriyaki chicken, much to the delight of his wife and children.
