Chris Mergell

My name is Chris Mergell and I am the proud father of three daughters and 2 sons by my first wife.  As a child, I grew up in Jackson County, Missouri.  In 1997 I moved to Texas, where I met and married my lovely wife, Beverly, who has four sons.  Together we have nine children that have blossomed into 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 

From an educational stand point, I hold a Bachelor’s of Science, which turned out to be a pre-med degree, from Brigham Young University, with a minor in Education.  Additionally I hold a Masters in Education from Grand Canyon University.  I am a certified teacher of all Sciences in addition to being certified as a Principal in the State of Texas. Over the past ten years I have taught Biology, Microbiology, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.  I have also previously been certified as a Lamaze instructor. 

Midwifery is an alternative method of child delivery that is very near and dear to my heart.  My fourth child was born at home in the Provo, Utah, using a mid-wife.  Additionally I have a daughter and a niece that are both interested in midwifery.  

Currently, I reside in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.  I look forward to working with the faculty and especially the students of the Midwives College of Utah as you progress towards your certification as midwives.
